Dear Letter Drop readers,
How is your 2025 going so far? Our world is becoming more filled with hate and suffering as time passes, and I can’t deny that it’s been deeply affecting my little life. Every piece of my body and soul aches from the news around the world.
I get scared. There are many days I feel it might be pointless to create art, especially those uplifting ones. Or the happy, funny ones for children. In my head, I keep questioning over and over—what am I doing here, a million miles away from my home and family, all for what? Does my art matter, or does art in general even matter at all? That feeling of losing purpose makes my days heavy.
Half of 2025 has passed, leaving me feeling so empty. Then, in July, I realized that this is the moment when we need to create, express, and share more than ever. There is so much nonsense, injustice, and moral transgression covering the world, but I couldn’t let these ugly minds keep people, including myself, from expressing, sharing, and living life.
With a fresh mindset, I’m excited to create and share more art this year. There are some projects in the works, and I can’t wait to share when they’re ready.
Here’s what’s been happening in my studio recently!
🎊 Original Art Sale! 🎊
I opened my first-ever Art Sale just a few weeks ago. It’s been amazing to receive such interest that exceeded my expectations! Several works have found new homes. I enjoyed every aspect of the process, from interacting with the buyers to packaging and shipping the artwork.
All works are small, original paintings, signed and sent with a special note for each collector. 💌
If you’re interested, you’re not late! Check out the full artwork list HERE.
Gallery Nucleus Power in Numbers Show
I created a series, “Clover in the Forest,” which initially started with a story of a girl who delivers a magic marble through the forest. She wears a four-leaf clover necklace that gives her the courage to venture through the forest and successfully complete her mission.
One of these series was exhibited at Gallery Nucleus Power in Numbers Show:
Date:
June 28, 2025 – July 6, 2025
Opening Reception:
Saturday, June 28, 2025, 5-8 PM.
Location:
Gallery Nucleus Alhambra
210 E Main St, Alhambra, CA 91801
The show just ended, but the artwork is available for purchase through Gallery Nucleus!

Clover in the Forest by Cindy Kang
TOP PICK for Inclusive Books for Children
The Can Caravan was selected as a Top Pick for Inclusive Books for Children! It was probably the most challenging project, but also the most rewarding one.
Helping more children experience a broader world or feel seen and understood through reading is a truly special experience. Thanks to the reviewers, I’m so happy for Janie!

Journey
The recurring character I draw is the girl with a raincoat and the blue fairy creatures that live in the forest. I realized the characters I subconsciously drew in my sketchbooks and paintings began to form a world, and I started to think that these could turn into a story or a series.
I’ve been labeling all my works that include these characters as 'Journey' for now. I envision this girl going on a wondrous journey into the unknown. There is yet no ambitious message to tell through this project, but only little journeys of hers to draw. Hope this little collection grows into something.
These blue forest fairies, Joonoogi, also appear in my Instagram comics project, PICNIC, which can be found at @joonoogi.picnic. It’s still in the early stages of the story, but if anyone's curious about what their stories could be, come follow my journey there!
Both Journey and Picnic are slow projects, but they will always continue. Hoping to make some more progress on their worlds in the remaining half of 2025!
I hope July treats you well! Enjoy the sun (or rain) and stay cool!
Thank you for reading Letter Drop.
Sincerely,
Cindy
