Why Are You Procrastinating?
Because It's Spring! :: Letter Drop No. 12 :: April 25
Dear Letter Drop readers,
Don’t panic — the title was for me, not you. I asked myself the entire month of March: Why are you procrastinating? Why is it so hard to find the motivation to do things? It’s different from having a lot of fun ideas or a list of tasks. It’s about doing things.
I wish I could blame it on Spring. It’s almost the end of the hermit era; it’s time to be outside constantly, which obviously wouldn’t motivate me to stay at my desk in front of all kinds of monitors.
Last weekend, I went gallery-hopping to see the New Yorker exhibits at L’Alliance and Arsenal Gallery. I was reminded how much I love New York, especially the culture, streets, and parks. Then my friends and I went to Central Park and saw a beautiful, fully-bloomed tree and people having picnic under the sun. That’s when I justified my procrastination: OK, this is why I don’t feel like doing anything productive!!! 🌸
I did have trouble focusing this March with the occasional beautiful warm weather, yet I was able to do some fun drawings, explore new ideas, and research what’s going on around the world. Here’s what I was up to!
ETSY is back!
After being closed for a while, my Etsy shop is open again! 🎉 I restocked my prints, including the NYC subway print that was and still is Etsy’s Pick.
I will update the new artworks this summer, and some old works will be removed from the shop. Please get yours while it’s there! AND there’s a special discount for Letter Drop readers during April!

Tamagotchi Kids
In case you missed it, I wrote a Sunday Sketchbook last weekend on my new work, Tamagotchi Kids. My passion is to look up anything parenting-related to figure out how to understand humans, not just kids and their parents. I came across a documentary on YouTube that discusses the problems of cram schools for 4-year-olds in South Korea, and I created this illustration as my response.
Check out the behind-the-scenes of creating this illustration and what’s happening to children these days living in the era of hyper-competition.

#KidLitArtPostcard
New Month, New Postcard! I’ve been making #KidLitArtPostcard my monthly art challenge for a while now. I’ve been sharing it on my Bluesky, where the KidLit community has been most active. Here are some of my past entries!
Which one is your favorite? I’d love to hear from you!
The new KidLitArtPostcard is this Thursday, April 3rd. So excited to share the new one soon, which will be one from my sketchbook this month that is ….
Unfinished Drawings
… maybe a part of these unfinished roughs I shared on Sunday Sketchbook in early March! Check out my messy drawings, which may turn into something with life and emotions later!
>Sunday Sketchbook: Unfinished Drawings
No artwork starts with perfect ideas. They all start rough and then grow into something. Maybe they won’t, but that’s also fine. I think that’s why keeping messy sketchbooks is great; it trains you to embrace the ups and downs of art making.
My sketches are sometimes so messy that I can’t even tell what I was thinking in the past. As I pick up the next day, I need to reconnect with the past me and figure out where my mind was. For some sketches, I start with full excitement, but then it gets bad every time I add another layer. Aaaah!
Well, as always, trust the process! The doubts will go away the more you put in the work. Hope I can find the best ways to complete these unfinished drawings in the near future.
Thank you for reading Letter Drop. I wish you all my best for April!
Sincerely,
Cindy 💌
